Linguistics In Healthcare

Linguistics in healthcare play an important role between the relationship of the provider and patient. In many settings, language barriers can prevent effective communication between healthcare providers and a better understanding of the nuances of language and how to communicate effectively with patients who speak different languages or have different cultural backgrounds is paramount to providing effective care.

For dental patients in low income communities, where patients may have limited access to healthcare resources and various language barriers, this effective communication can improve patient outcomes by ensuring that patients understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and any necessary follow-up care.
